Jae is based in Edmonton, North London; this is an area containing a diverse and multi-cultural population. The students we work with come from a range of racial, religious and cultural backgrounds. We are linked to a local Church called Rainbow Church, and work within the same offices.
We held two very successful inter-schools event which looked at the issues of unfair trade in relation to the clothing industry. We have also worked in a number of schools and translated both our Chocolate installation and Flight of Fashion into secondary and primary schools. We also have worked with the Youth Inclusion Project in South London. We are a part of the (IAACP) International Action Against Child Poverty Coalition. In 2003 Jae were involved in coordinating and running an event for young people on behalf of IAACP in HM Treasury looking at the Millennium Development Goals on Child Poverty. Jae also work in partnership with Paalam Project in Sri Lanka, many of the Jae team have been to Sri Lanka. Through Realeyez many young people that work with Jae have raised money towards the project out there. |
